Protective barrier: Topical: Ointment (excluding Lantiseptic): Apply thin layer to affected area 2 to 4 times daily or after each incontinent episode/diaper change Ointment (Lantiseptic only), Paste: Apply to affected area up to 6 times daily or after each incontinent episode/diaper change Powder: Children ≥2 years, Adolescents, and Adults: Apply to affected area up to 4 times daily.

Zinc oxide cannot be used during radiation therapy. Other warnings/precautions:

Do not exceed the recommended dose unless directed by a health care provider; do not put medication into rectum using fingers or any mechanical device/applicator. If the symptom being treated does not subside, worsens, does not improve within 7 days or if redness, irritation, swelling, pain, bleeding, or other symptoms develop or increase, discontinue use and consult a health care provider.
